프랑스의 길거리엔
사람이 밀면 열릴까 싶은 큰 문들이 많았다
이유인즉슨, 과거 말이 교통수단인 시절
말과 같이 탄 채로 들어가기 위함이라 더란 답을 들었고
어느 날 열려 있던 문 안쪽의 공간은 문의 크기만큼이나 넓었다
그러한 생각은 그날에 멈춰져 있는 채
시간이 꽤나 흘렀을 때였다
프랑스의 날씨는 변덕이 심해 비가 자주 왔었는데,
찬 빗방울들이 무섭게 쏟아지는 날에
여전히 무채색의 큰 문들이 닫혀있었다.
한 큰 문 앞에 누추한 차림의
부랑자 한 명이 앉아 비에 흠뻑 적셔지고 있었다.
큰 문덕에 더욱 작고 초라해 보였을지 모르겠지만-
굳게 닫힌 문은 마음 열 생각 이 없었고
비는 차갑고 무섭게 쏟아졌다
문 안쪽 비 피할 큰 공간이 있는 걸 알기에
열리길 기대했지만
굳게 닫혀있는 문은 열리지 않았다
언제부터일까 말마저 들어갈 수 있었던 따듯한 갈색의 문이
가여운 부랑자가 찬비 맞는 순간에도 야박히 색 바랜 채 닫혀있는 게
쏟아지는 빗방울의 온도만큼이나 차가운
흠뻑 젖은 부랑자 주변은 1센트 동전들이 질서 없이 떨어져있고-
그곳에 큰 문이 있었다

The poor vagrant stays closed with a faded color even when it's raining or cold
As cold as the temperature of the pouring raindrops
Around the drenched bum, the cents are scattered in an orderly manner—
and there was a big door
